THINK IRELAND, THINK GUINNESS! If ever there was a national drink, surely this is it. First brewed in Dublin more than 200 years ago, this deep black Irish stout with its creamy white head is instantly recognizable. It's hard to believe that the first etisements for Guinness, which appeared throughout Britain in 1929 after a trial in Scotland and the previous year, had plenty of text but not a single picture. The ad did introduce us to the first of many memorable slogans-'Guinness is good for you.' This is the one we most associate with the drink even though it hasn't been used for more than 30 years.
