Broome County issued the following press release:
In 2007, the New York State Central Registry for Child Abuse and Maltreatment processed 186,098 reports of alleged child abuse and maltreatment in New York State. Last year in Broome County alone there were 2,776 reports investigated by Child Protective Services of alleged child abuse or maltreatment. Approximately 30% of these situations are found to have credible evidence to indicate that there has been child abuse or maltreatment. Child abuse has unfortunately become too common in local news reports.
Each year April is the month designated to bring awareness in communities throughout the United States about the prevention of child abuse. ...
