Brunei Darussalam

The Brunei economy has been recording positive growth rates for the last few years. The labour force participation rate has also been increasing from 69.9 per cent in 2004 to 71.7 per cent in 2006. Unemployment fell to 4 per cent as at end 2006 compared with 4.3 per cent in 2005.1 Brunei's literacy rates are among the highest in ASEAN. Literacy rates have increased from 80.3 per cent in 1981 to 84.7 per cent in 1991 and 93.7 per cent in 2001.2
