Little information is available about the coadministration of local anesthetics in patients receiving medications that are epileptogenic or may lower the seizure threshold. We describe a grand mal seizure following infraclavicular brachial plexus block, which may possibly have been influenced by an interaction between bupropion (Wellbutrin SR®, GlaxoSmithkline, Brentford, Middlesex, United Kingdom) and ropivacaine. A 16-year-old (body mass index, 22.6), American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) Class II male, received an infraclavicular brachial plexus block for elective outpatient surgery.
