Another foreign company is taking advantage of the cheap U.S. dollar to purchase assets in the Quadstate region.
On March 1, The Shockey Companies in Winchester sold its Crider & Shockey ready-mix concrete division to Nazareth, Pa.based ESSROC, the North American subsidiary of Italcementi Group in Bergamo, Italy. No sale price has been announced.
Crider & Shockey joins several other foreign-owned building materials and mining companies in the region: St. Lawrence Cement in Hagerstown, owned by a Canadian company, in turn owned by a Swiss company; Titan America with a ready-mix location in Frederick County, Va., and Roanoke Cement with a transfer station in Front Royal, both owned by ...
