Legislation signed by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio da Suva in December is aimed at stimulating research innovation by making it easier for public sector researchers and private companies to collaborate. The law allows private companies to fund research carried out by public institutions and for researchers to be paid for their time working on the projects.
