'Problems way beyond my scope...'
Ms. Brown1 is the social services director for an aging organization in New Orleans. After shuttling between a series of temporary offices, she ws able to return to her original office in January 2006. Since the storm, she has worked vigorously fir the senior community while trying to rebuild her own flooded home. One of the most difficult aspects of her role in the recovery efforts was beating older people who had evacuated and assessing their post-Katrina needs.
At first it was hard to find people who stayed behind because many of our clients were independent and in assisted living. Most nursing homes and assisted livings did have an evacuation plan. ...
