Article: New Jersey Inventors Develop Frequency Planning for Wireless Networks

ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- Byoung-Jo J. Kim of Jersey City, N.J., and Kin K Leung of Edison, N.J., have developed a method executed in a network management system.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A frequency planning method for use in an Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Inc. 802.11 wireless network is described. The frequency planning method obtains traffic load information associated with access points belonging to a multi-cell wireless network and assigns channels to the access points based on the traffic load information."

The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,346,357 on March 18.
