SALINA - Polaris Library Systems launched its sale of integrated library systems (ILS) in the 1990s, but didn't generate a sale in its home state until four years ago, says William M. Schickling, president and CEO.
Onondaga County Public Library (OCPL) most recently purchased a Polaris system at the end of 2007. Schickling declined to disclose the purchase price of the system.
An ILS is a resource-planning system for a library used to track late books and related items, orders made, bills paid, and patrons who have borrowed. The system allows libraries to connect systems together so books can be shared between libraries.
