Republicans on the House Energy & Commerce Committee issued the following news release:
U.S. Reps. Joe Barton, R-Texas, ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and John Shimkus, R-Ill., ranking member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, today asked the Food and Drug Administration commissioner to explain an earlier FDA response to the lawmakers.
Barton and U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, R-Ky., then ranking member of the oversight subcommittee, wrote to the FDA on Nov. 14, 2007, about its dispute resolution process. Its Feb. 1, 2008, letter failed to respond to the questions of good-faith dispute resolution.
