Article: A Synoptic Report for Bone Marrow Aspiration and Core Biopsies

To the Editor.-With great interest we read the article by Murari and Pandey1 in the December 2006 issue of the ARCHIVES. The authors describe an electronic synoptic report system for bone marrow aspiration and core biopsy specimens.

The need for a complete yet concise synoptic report in bone marrow pathology cannot be overemphasized. Bone marrow reports are usually lengthy and time consuming. Oncologists desire concision yet they are frequently presented with a confusing mass of information in a lengthy report.
