The city of Reno issued the following news release:
Reno firefighters kept a late Monday afternoon wind-driven fire that destroyed a vacant home and several outbuildings in southwest Reno from neighboring homes despite strong winds accompanying a cold front that moved through the area.
The fire was reported at about 5:02 p.m. shortly after National Weather Service wind observations indicated 59 mile per hour southwest winds gusting to 81 miles per hour on Slide Mountain. The frame residence and outbuildings at 3360 Quilici Lane, a storage structure at 3370 Quilici Lane and about two acres of adjacent brush were burning and being buffeted by the strong winds when firefighters arrived on ...
