The city of Reno issued the following news release:

Reno firefighters kept a late Monday afternoon wind-driven fire that destroyed a vacant home and several outbuildings in southwest Reno from neighboring homes despite strong winds accompanying a cold front that moved through the area.

The fire was reported at about 5:02 p.m. shortly after National Weather Service wind observations indicated 59 mile per hour southwest winds gusting to 81 miles per hour on Slide Mountain.
