Article: Mississippi Dems: Davis Raised Southaven City Fees While His Own Annual Pay As Mayor Doubled

The Mississippi Democratic Party issued the following news release:

Greg Davis never met a fee increase he didn't like while serving as mayor of Southaven since 1997.

Davis, a Republican candidate in Mississippi's 1st Congressional District race, increased water and sewage rates in his city after being elected mayor in 1997. But that's not all. A series of fee increases followed throughout much of 2006 and into 2007.

Davis raised ambulance fees by $50, utility rates by 4 percent and storm water permit fees by $5 an acre.

And while he was making Southaven residents pay more, Davis saw his salary as mayor more than double in 10 years - jumping from $50,000 a year in 1997 to $110,000 a year in ...
