Fortunately, with modern lead-control techniques, up-to-date range designs and proper maintenance protocols, lead can certainly be successfully controlled. However, when running a modern indoor range, lead control can be time-consuming and expensive.
Perhaps a better solution is not to control it, but to not permit lead on the range in the first place. A few years ago, several companies began making solid-copper bullets, while others started producing frangible bullets made of compressed copper powder or powdered iron. Lead-free primers began to appear, as well.
