Rep. Mary W. Bono, R-Calif. (45th CD), issued the following news release:
Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today praised the U.S. Department of Transportation's proposal to begin implementing the increased fuel-efficiency standards mandated by Congress. The plan would increase gas mileage standards by 4.5 percent per year over the five-year period ending in 2015, keeping the U.S. on target to reach 35 miles per gallon for new cars and trucks by 2020. Bono Mack emphasized that this move helps the environment while reducing costs to Americans. A Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Bono Mack has consistently supported increased Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.
