The city of Redwood City issued the following news release:

Redwood City joins thousands of people around the country in May as part of a nationwide celebration of the annual National Historic Preservation Month. "This Place Matters" is the theme of this month-long celebration, sponsored nationally by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and locally by Redwood City and its Historic Resources Advisory Committee.

Citizens nationwide will celebrate with workshops, architectural and historic tours, award ceremonies, fundraising events, and educational programs. In Redwood City, Preservation Month 2008 will be observed with a Mayor's proclamation, a tour of the 1859 Historic Union ...
