Article: ILLINOIS EPA INITIATES CLEANUP OF ILLEGAL DUMP IN TREASURED SHAWNEE NATIONAL FOREST

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency issued the following news release:

Cleaning up after fly dumpers to bring back the natural beauty of one of the country's most treasured forests, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) Director Doug Scott today announced that the Agency will begin cleanup of the first of at least ten large illegal dump sites in the Shawnee National Forest., beginning today, April 23, and weather permitting, finishing Tuesday, April 29.

The first cleanup at Waters Cemetery consists of nearly 300 cubic yards of waste spread along a 1/2 mile stretch of the trail, which have been disposed of illegally. Over the next week crews will work hard to ...
