The annual Days of '47 Pioneer Celebration is a hallmark of Utah summers, with out-of-town visitors and locals alike enjoying months' worth of community activities culminating in the observance of July 24, a statewide holiday commemorating the arrival of the first pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley. With parades, rodeos, picnics and other events throughout the Beehive State, the Days of '47 also pack an economic punch that just keeps growing.
According to Bruce Bingham, president of Days of `47 Inc., this year's celebration will include 1,200 volunteers for 19 public events, a large majority of which are free. Last year, there were 22,200 participants in the various Days of '47 activities, ...
