Article: Inspector General's Report Raises Concerns About Mexican Trucking Border Program

The U.S. Department of Transportation's inspector general raised several concerns, including some safety-related issues, about the Mexican trucking pilot program, already under fire from a lawsuit and congressional opponents, in a recent report to Congress.

The report, issued earlier this month, said the inspector general was unable to confirm that federal officials at the border were making required safety inspections of trucks bound for deliveries in the United States. It also said only a few U.S. and Mexican carriers were participating, and that those carriers have made few trips beyond the already recognized commercial zone along the border.
