Article: DEPARTMENT OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING ON RULE CHANGES FOR FISHING IN KAHULUI HARBOR

The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources issued the following news release:

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 to discuss proposed fishing rule changes (Hawai'i Administrative Rules Chapter 13-51) for Kahului Harbor, Maui.

The hearing will be held at Lihikai Elementary School, 335 South Papa Avenue, in Kahului. The pre-hearing information presentation will begin at 6 p.m., with the public hearing to follow from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The main changes proposed are to generally restrict net use; establish a daily bag limit of 50 specimens per person; prohibit snagging; limit pole fishing to two poles per person; and ...
