Twenty-two years after winning the Nobel Prize in chemistry. University of Toronto professor John Polanyi continues his prolific research career, having just been named winner of the Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering. Awarded annually by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Herzberg medal is considered Canada's most prestigious science prize and guarantees the winner $1 million in research funding over the next five years.
