U.S. Rep. George Miller (D-CA), the chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, delivered the following floor statement today on H.R. 5522, the Worker Protection against Combustible Dust Explosions and Fires Act of 2008.

On February 7, 2008, a huge explosion ripped through the Imperial Sugar refinery in Port Wentworth, Georgia. Eight workers died instantly. Five more have died in the months since the explosion from the horrific burns they suffered. More than 60 workers were injured, ...
