Ocean Conservancy applauds action taken today by Representative Henry Waxman (D Calif.) to request an immediate release of a ship strike rule that was proposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) more than one year ago. The rule will require ships to slow down as they enter U.S. ports at times when North Atlantic right whales are present.
