NEW DELHI, India, May 1 -- A midwife, who allegedly helped unmarried pregnant women sell their children, has been arrested along with three other persons, police said. Jyoti, the brain behind the racket, worked as a private midwife and usually operated in slum clusters, said an officer.
She has allegedly sold off at least half a dozen newborn babies in different states in North India. She was arrested while allegedly striking a deal for a three-day-old girl with policemen posing as customers on Wednesday.
