The Massachusetts Attorney General issued the following news release:
The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has rejected a petition filed by Bay State Gas Company ("Bay State") seeking to increase base rates by approximately $7.5 million for distributing natural gas to customers. The DPU also rejected an automatic rate increase mechanism proposed by Bay State to recover millions more in the costs of an accelerated gas main infrastructure replacement program. The decision came after a six month investigation in which Bay State's customers were represented by Attorney General Martha Coakley's Office.
