ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 9 -- Thomas G. Rehberger of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Charles V. Maxwell of Springdale, Ark., have developed a Lactobacillus brevis strain.
According to a description of the invention, released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to Lactobacillus strains for ingesting by animals. More particularly, though not exclusively, the present invention relates to Lactobacillus strains that are useful as direct-fed microbials for pigs."
The inventors were issued U.S. Patent No. 7,354,757 on April 8.
