The Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs issued the following news release:

The Nevada Historical Society's free classic film screening program "After Dark" will show the feature-length film, "Virginia City," on May 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The series features showings of classic feature films that relate to Nevada followed by an historic short film. The May short film selection is "You Asked for It: Virginia City" (1975).

"Although Virginia City was filmed outside the state, its relevance to Nevada history is significant because the plot is based in the Civil War era," said Mella Harmon, curator of education. "Being a battle born state, Nevada played a key role in the politics of the Civil ...
