The city of Monterey Park issued the following news release:

The Monterey Park Library Foundation Spring Gala will be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 at Ocean Star Restaurant located at 145 North Atlantic Boulevard, Monterey Park.

This year's Gala will feature a Magic Show Competition brought to Monterey Park by magician Pedro Chan. There will be up to twelve magicians competing for more than $1,000 in prize money.

The judges include Magicians Dave Thorsen, Roger Inabu, and Leonard Reid, along with Celebrity Judges John Scudder, Linda Marsh and Monterey Park City Manager June Yotsuya.

Registration starts at 6:30 P.M. with the event to start at 7:00 P.M. Dinner will ...
