Noteworthy Collections: NORTH CAROLINA Observations on the Invasive Cayratia japonica (Vitaceae) in North Carolina, Including Six New Records for the State

The highly invasive Cayratia japonica (Thunb.) Gagnep. (VITACEAE) is spreading throughout the Southeast. We report six new populations from North Carolina and provide comments on the floral morphology, with color photographs to call attention to this poorly known invasive species. Observations on fruiting are also provided. The species is listed as a Red Alert on The Nature Conservancy's Global Invasive Species Team Weed Alert website (The Nature Conservancy 2007).
