Article: Sen. Leahy Introduces Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act

WASHINGTON, May 20 -- Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, has introduced the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act of 2008 (S. 3012), legislation that would "amend title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to extend the authorization of the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Program through fiscal year 2012."

The bill, introduced on May 13, was co-sponsored by Sens. Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania; Barbara Mikulski, D-Maryland; Richard C. Shelby, R-Alabama; Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah; and Barack Obama, D-Illinois. It was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
