The office of Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, issued the following news release:

Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) today announced his schedule for public appearances and events over the Memorial Day Weekend. At most events the Senator will be joined by Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) Dr. James Peake, who is visiting Alaska at Senator Stevens' invitation.

Senator Stevens and Secretary Peake will spend the weekend in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Bethel talking with veterans, examining VA health care facilities, seeing first-hand the challenges faced by Alaska's veterans, and attending Memorial Day activities. Additionally, the Senator will attend Memorial Day events in the Mat-Su Valley.
