STUDY SAYS TIPPING POINTS ARE NEAR

The complete loss of summer Arctic sea ice, a significant reduction of Amazonian rainfall, and the intensification of El Niño events are some of the scenarios that are impending if current temperature increases continue, according to a recent article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The research determined thresholds, or "tipping points," that must be reached in order for certain scenarios to play out, and identified nine different events that are approaching their tipping points.
