Meteorological and space organizations from around the world recently agreed to support the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)'s proposal to enhance the Global Observing System (GOS) of satellites. The goal of the GOS is to assist in the monitoring of the atmosphere and ocean surfaces for the preparation of weather analyses, forecasts, advisories, and warnings.
