Hard to believe though it is, the last time JoAnn Falletta and I spoke was four years ago for an interview and feature piece in 27:4. If her schedule was hectic then-shuttling between Buffalo and Virginia in her dual capacity as conductor of both the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra-today it has become even more so as her calendar of concerts, appearances, and recording engagements has increased several fold.
Falletta's commitment to the music of modern American composers-and the mainstay of her repertoire-at least on disc, has not diminished; but it has now broadened to include widely known and recorded mainstream Romantic and early 20th-century European works. Thus ...
