Wayne Peterson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1992, has had a distinguished career as a composer and has written more than 60 scores for orchestra, chamber ensemble, and chorus. Both Peterson and the Alexander String Quartet teach at San Francisco State University and it is there that their long musical association began. "Retrospections," the first integral recording of Peterson's three string quartets, not only preserves the Alexander's insightful and vivid performance, but is also a heartfelt gift to the composer in honor of his 80th birthday.
