It took him five cracks at it but Danny Buffalo was finally able to win a medal at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC).
Buffalo coached the Alberta boys' entry to a bronze medal at this year tournament, which concluded on May 3 in Garden River First Nation, near Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
"It's about time," said Buffalo, who has coached the Alberta boys' squad since it began participating at the NAHC in 2004. "I'm pretty happy."
The Alberta boys'club played seven matches at the national tournament, which attracted 10 male teams.
Buffalo's charges won five of their games. Their two losses were both against Saskatchewan, the eventual gold medalists.
