The New Mexico Department of Higher Education issued the following news release:
This summer, more than 1,700 New Mexico eighth graders will participate in one of 12 summer camp programs as part of the program called Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP). NM GEAR UP is a six-year U.S. Department of Education funded grant aimed at increasing the number of students who graduate from high school prepared to complete the college program of their choice. NM GEAR UP students who attend summer camps will continue to build a strong foundation to help them succeed in college.
