ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- Masahiro Narita of Gifu, Japan, has developed a signal processing unit gains control method.

An abstract of the invention, released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, said: "The gain control signal generating unit generates a gain control signal, using a signal yielding the greatest level among signals of the respective signal processing units.
