Waiting for degrees since '02

NEW DELHI, India, June 7 -- SINCE ACADEMIC year 2002, the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSJMU) has not awarded degrees to graduate and postgraduate students who have passed exams. According to CSJMU records, over 25 lakh students were to be given degrees, but the varsity has not been able to decide on the issue.

According to vice chancellor CSJMU Dr LC Misra, work to expedite disposal of degrees is being monitored. "Every effort is being made to give original degrees to successful examinees at an earliest," he said.

He, however, made no comment as to why the process was taking such a long time.
