ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- Hermann Spiess of Habsburg, Switzerland, Michael Strittmatter of Zurzach, Switzerland, and Mathias Kranich of Albbruck, Germany, have developed an information redundant transmission system.
According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In a method and a device for redundant transmission of protection commands between remote tripping devices, useful information which represents a protection command or a rest signal is transmitted by a first remote tripping device in at least two time slots via a first interface to a first multiplexer, and is transmitted via different transmission paths by the multiplexer based on the time slots.
