Taliban vows to turn Pak cities into battlefields after scrapping of Swat peace pact

Lahore, June 10 -- The Taliban has said that it would turn Pakistan's cities into battlefields after the government announced that the peace pact with the Swat militants has been scrapped.

In a TV interview, Tehreek-e-Taliban spokesman Maulvi Umar said yesterday that the Taliban had signed the truce with the NWFP government after "careful consideration", and that they would adopt a "new course of action" after Rehman Malik's statement that the truce had been scrapped.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister's Adviser on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik had said that following "continued attacks by militants on security forces", ...
