Article: SEN. NELSON URGES FOR MEDICARE DOCTOR SUPPORT

The office of Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., issued the following news release:

Nebraska's Senator Ben Nelson expressed disappointment with today's Senate vote blocking advancement of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (S. 3101). The cloture vote was not agreed to by a vote of 54-39.

"Today's vote is yet another example of the Senate failing to do what needs to be done for seniors and hardworking medical professionals," said Senator Nelson. "Our doctors are the stewards of our continued vitality and health. By cutting their payments from a system we ask them to participate in, we are also putting ourselves at a great disadvantage."
