ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 14 -- Jeffrey L. Thermond of Saratoga, Calif., has developed a wireless local area network (WLAN).

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A home wireless router establishes a WLAN that supports wireless communications within a WLAN service area. The home wireless router establishes broadband communications via a broadband connection with a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service accumulator.
