LIBRARY TIGHTENS PURSE STRINGS

A $6.8 million deficit in the county budget has left officials scrambling to figure out creative ways of balancing the books. Because a miscalculation in projected tax revenue for the current fiscal year was discovered, the county manager has asked all department heads to trim their budgets to counter the shortfall. This means a $150,000 budget cut for New Hanover County Public Library.
