WASHINGTON, June 18 -- Rep. Diane E. Watson, D-California, has introduced the Access, Compassion, Care, and Ethics for Seriously Ill Patients Act (H.R. 6270), legislation that would "amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to create a new conditional approval system for drugs, biological products, and devices that is responsive to the needs of seriously ill patients."
The bill, introduced on June 12, was co-sponsored by Reps. Dan Burton, R-Indiana; Tom Latham, R-Iowa; Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas; Hilda L. Solis, D-California; Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Texas; Elijah E. Cummings, D-Maryland; and John Conyers Jr., D-Michigan. It was referred to the House Energy ...
