European Commission Proposes Global Oil Summit

The European Commission has suggested the creation of a global summit between oil producers and consuming countries, in order to address recent record high oil prices.
That proposal was just one of many that the lawmaking body suggested when it met last week to discuss shorter-term and longer-term actions to address high food and fuel prices. The European Commission will present these proposals to the European Council member states when it meets this week.
The idea of a summit has also been expressed by oil producing country Saudi Arabia (face=+Italic; see related story, this issueface=-Italic; ).
