IEA: OECD Gasoline Demand Up 1%

Gasoline demand for member countries of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) actually rose year-on-year in April, the first increase in months.

Total OECD gasoline demand in April was 14.95 million b/d--an increase of 1% from April of last year. The greatest increases in gasoline demand were seen in Mexico (9.5%), Japan (17.3%) and South Korea (6.8%), according to the International Energy Agency's (IEA) monthly oil market report.

Indeed, out of all the oil products that the IEA tracks, only gasoline and diesel saw demand increase for the OECD. Diesel demand was up 8%, while total OECD product demand grew 1.3%, to 48.6 million b/d.
