IWCE and the 700 MHz Partnership

The annual International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in February began its meeting with a look at what progress has been made in the 700 MHz Public Safety / Private Partnership project. Derek Poarch, chief of the Public Safety and Homeland security Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission, said, "Protection of the American public is something the FCC takes very seriously." The nationwide public safety network is to be built, he pledged, and the equipment will feature "off-theshelf technology.
