Article: Japanese Inventors Develop Optical Waveguide Device

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- Osamu Mitomi and Yuichi Iwata, both of Nagoya, Japan, Kenji Aoki of Ichinomiya, Japan, Jungo Kondo of Nishikamo-Gun, Japan, and Tetsuya Ejiri of Kasugai, Japan, have developed an optical waveguide device.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the invention aims to provide an "optical waveguide device in which the radius of curvature of a curved part of an optical waveguide can be lowered and the radiation loss of light in the curved part can be reduced.
