Conventional Arming and Disarming

* India awarded Russia a $965 million contract to upgrade its MiG-29 warplanes. The upgrade will allow India's aging fleet of 70 MiG-29 jets to remain in service for another 10 to 15 years.

* On March 12, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible U.S. Foreign Military Sale to Iraq worth up to $1.38 billion. Iraq has requested a variety of equipment, including vehicles, small arms and ammunition, communication and medical equipment, and clothing. U.S. law requires that Congress be informed of a potential sale, but notification does not mean that the deal has been concluded.
